We, Brian and I, took the opportunity of the Annual National Cape Parrot count to spend the weekend birding in one of our best national areas, and combine it with the Saturday evening and Sunday morning parrot census.

Parrot Count - Magoebaskloof from 5 - 6 May 2007 Print E-mail

Over the weekend of the 5th and 6th May, 10 intrepid Birders volunteered to do the Parrot census in the Woodbush area.  Armed with plenty of food and Old Brown Sherry as well as warm clothing and sleeping bags they felt able to take the worst the mountains could offer them at dawn and dusk when the count takes place.  That is when the Parrots are most liable to be seen as they cross from their overnight roosts to their feeding grounds and back again.
